Made by Morgen x R.M.Williams

Made By Morgen has created a range of bespoke pieces for the iconic Australian brand’s national flagship store at 345 George St, Sydney.

We feel incredibly fortunate and proud to announce our collaboration with R.M Williams. We witnessed firsthand the lengths that R.M.Williams go to, to ensure longevity in the products they make. At Made by Morgen, we share the same approach with our furniture - commitment to sustainable and ethical production practices ensures that each piece is not only beautiful but also made to last.

Some custom-made pieces were upholstered in R.M. Williams leather, which we sourced during a Research & Development trip to their Adelaide factory. We were also privileged to design and build a display cabinet for Reginald Murray (RM) Williams’ original riding saddle, and their boardroom table.

Another highlight from the rich assortment of furniture pieces crafted for the outback brand is the inclusion of reclaimed Hydrowood Leatherwood, a highly sustainable material dredged from beneath the waters of Lake Pieman, Tasmania, by a company called Hydrowood. This native wood is the single most crucial nectar plant in Tasmania. It is illegal to harvest above ground, so this scarce and precious supply of reclaimed materials adds another level of history and storytelling to each piece it touches.

Over the last 12 or so months, we have been working closely with both Architects ACRD and the RM Williams design team led by Paul Giangelli on several Flagship store re-fits providing our signature handmade furniture. Claremont and St Georges Terrace in Perth, Rundle Mall in Adelaide and most recently, the Global Flagship headquarters and showroom at 345 George St in Sydney.

It has been a fantastic journey for us, and we look forward to continuing our journey with R.M. Williams as we expand to Melbourne Central Business District.

R.M.Williams arrives at 345 George Street, Sydney.

‘Many artisans have helped bring the space to life, including furniture makers Made by Morgen, who employed salvaged, sustainable Hydrowood Leatherwood in the creation of many of the store’s bespoke furniture pieces, as well as upholstering works in boot leather sourced on a research visit to the R.M.Williams workshop in Adelaide.’
